A lush green forest in southern Chile might be home to the world's oldest tree after a new study found that an ancient alerce tree known as "great grandfather" could be more than 5,000 years old.
Water agencies and officials are working to get the message out on the importance of trees and keeping them alive during the drought.
The tree, in Chile’s Alerce Costero national park, is known as the Great Grandfather and could be more than 5,000 years old
